5 Week Food-Based Cleanse

The group provides a supportive community and accountability to help you stick with it. You also have Joey’s guidance as a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner so you can avoid many of the common pitfalls people experience while on a cleanse. You will come through this feeling rejuvenated, energized and inspired to continue on with a sustainable plan for healthy eating.

This is not a fast or a juice cleanse — there is no calorie counting, starvation or prepackaged foods. It's not a colon cleanse or gallbladder flush that'll keep you tethered to the toilet! The best way to think about it is as a Real Food Reset. 

The class includes a cleanse guide with everything you need to know to be successful on the program -- instructions on how to customize your cleanse, food list, food journal form, example meal plan and 23 page packet with simple, delicious and cleanse approved recipes.

This class meets via Zoom, Saturdays from 10-11:30am starting Saturday, April 13. Login details sent upon registration.  Each class includes a check-in with support, a lesson, and a call to action. 

Week 1, April 13:  How to prepare mentally, physically and emotionally to make successful changes to your diet.
Week 2, April 20:  Digestion… How it works.
Week 3, April 27:  Balanced Blood Sugar… how sweet it is.
Week 4, May 4: Detoxification… we live in a toxic world... Let's help our body keep up.
Week 5, May 11:  Celebrating our Success and Next Steps… how to reintroduce foods and next steps for continued success.

Please Note:

  • The diet is anti-inflammatory and eliminates refined sugar, processed foods and dairy, and limits starchy carbohydrates for the duration of the Cleanse. We focus on fresh vegetables and fruits, good quality animal protein, nuts, seeds and healthy fats timed at appropriate intervals for optimized blood sugar stabilization. 

  • The first week is all about getting prepared for the cleanse and transitioning into it. No need to know or do anything prior to our first meeting.

  • While Three Stone Hearth does consider the needs of Cleanse participants in planning their weekly menus, and we will discuss what TSH foods can support you, the class fee does not include food items. They can be purchased separately by ordering online or shopping in the Brick & Mortar store. Three Stone Hearth does offer participants a 10% discount on their weekly menu items and bone broths for the duration of the Cleanse. The discount only applies to online orders, not to purchases in the Brick & Mortar store.

Joey Anderson is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, GAPS Practitioner and Restorative Wellness Practitioner. She specializes in functional nutrition and in using food as medicine. She combines real food (delicious and tailored to you), functional lab tests and attention to lifestyle, to help families and individuals feel good and thrive. She loves her work!


Three Stone Hearth Education Cancellation Policy:

If you pre-register for a class and are unable to attend, please send an email to letting us know. You may cancel and request a full refund up until 24 hours before the class. (If a class is offered as a series, cancellation must be done 24 hours prior to the start of the first class in the series.) We will issue a credit to your TSH account for the full class price. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, we will not issue a credit to your account, however you may apply the class fee towards a future class to be used within 6 months. After 6 months, that credit will be void. If you cannot attend, you are also welcome to send someone else in your place. We ask that you make prior arrangements with the teacher should another person be attending in your place. If you contact us after the class, no refunds or credits will be issued.

The Detox officially begins Thursday morning, March 21, but you can start later if you choose to pickup later than Wednesday.

The Broth Detox also includes:

  • Detailed day-by-day instructions prepared by nutritional therapist Joey Anderson, who also leads our popular Five-Week Guided Group Cleanse.
  • Ongoing guidance and support with Joey through email during the five days. 
  • Two live Zoom calls: one Thursday, March 21 at 11am - 12 noon to introduce the Detox and answer questions, and one Sunday, March 24, from 10-11am to connect, check in about how it's going, along with a discussion about transitioning off the Detox and a Q&A.  The calls will be recorded with the replay available for two weeks. 


How it works

By registering, you are agreeing to be charged an additional $213 (the cost of the broths, beverages and supporting materials), plus $28.50 in refundable glass deposits, for a total of $241.50, by Sunday, March 17.

2. We will charge your Three Stone Hearth account the remaining $241.50 on Sunday, March 17. You will receive an itemized list of your Broths and Beverages, and more detailed information and guidelines about the Detox and how to join the Zoom call.

3. Get your Broths and Beverages and begin detoxing!


Broths are a traditional source of comfort, nourishment and healing throughout the world. Slow cooked bone broths, using ingredients from grassfed and pasture-raised animals, are famously calming to the digestive system, rich in gelatin and bioavailable nutrients, and aid in the body’s natural detoxification abilities. Infused bone broths and vegetable broths are a great way to incorporate additional nourishing and healing ingredients, such as turmeric and ginger, phytonutrients from greens, and the mineral riches of root vegetables.

Joey Anderson is a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) Practitioner, specializing in Functional Nutrition and in using food as medicine. Prior to her formal work with nutrition, she worked as a sous chef at the Esalen Institute as well as running her own catering company.

Joey has extensive experience helping people with digestive and blood sugar issues. Her skills include working with functional blood chemistry, comprehensive GI stool testing, food sensitivity testing and adrenal stress testing. She has studied with Restorative Wellness Solutions, Holistic Nutrition Lab, Apex Energetics and Standard Process.

Joey combines a deep knowledge of food and nutrition with modern testing resources and a focus on lifestyle choices to give individualized recommendations so her clients can heal and thrive. She prides herself in being able to explain her work in non technical language, meet her clients where they are and provide a supportive environment to create sustainable change.


Your Five-Day Detox Experience


Day 1: Transitional day, includes broth and beverages along with some simple solid foods. 


Day 2-4: Broth fast -- there will be suggestions for food supplementation if you are feeling too hungry or fatigued.

The basic package we have put together under Joey Anderson’s guidance will have you consuming an average of two quarts of broth per day and about a cup of probiotic beverages. You are encouraged to add more of these foods as desired, and to drink herbal tea anytime.

The Benefits of Broth

Slow-cooked bone broths improve gut health and support digestion, support the body’s natural detoxification abilities, improve the health of your skin and joints and boost your immune system. Unlike many other types of cleanses and fasts, this fast actually replenishes the body while giving organs a break from their daily workload. The electrolytes and minerals in both the broths and beverages will help prevent dehydration as you go about your day.

Bone broth provides highly-bioavailable amino acids and protein, particularly collagen and gelatin. You won’t lose muscle during this Detox, and you will likely lose some fat.

Bone broth is especially high in the following amino acids:

  • Proline--main amino acid that tightens and tones our skin and tissues—including our gut wall and intestinal linings
  • Glycine--supports detoxification and blood sugar regulation by the liver, improves oxygen flow through the blood, especially during exercise, and helps reduce homocysteine levels
  • Glutamine--supports gut repair and provides energy to the immune system
  • Arginine--supports circulation and hormone cleansing

Properly made bone broth (slow-cooked with some vinegar added to acidify the water) is rich in potassium, which helps flush waste and toxins out of the cells, as well as calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and zinc.

Broth is high in glucosamine and chondroitin, which support joint health, as well as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) complex carbohydrates involved in many biological processes, especially in strengthening joints and maintaining the lubricating synovial fluid around them.

The vegetarian broth included in the Detox was specifically formulated to support ease of digestion and to provide a range of nutrients, particularly the bioavailable minerals in root vegetables.

Both the Ginger-Turmeric Broth and the Turmeric-Ginger Cabbage tonic feature the potent anti-inflammatory and immune-supporting combination of ginger and turmeric, along with ginger’s renowned abilities to support healthy digestion.

Cancellation Policy (please read carefully):

Since the Broths and Beverages for the Detox will be charged to your account on Sunday, January 14 our cancellation policy shifts before and after that date.

If you cancel before 10am on Monday, March 18 you may choose to receive a credit card refund for the $50 registration fee, or a $50 credit on your Three Stone Hearth account.

If you cancel after 10am on Monday, March 18 and before 10am on Wednesday, March 20 you will receive a credit on your account for the $50 registration fee, plus $213 for the cost of the Broths and Beverages and $28.50 for the glass deposits, for a total account credit of $291.50. There is no time limit on this credit, and you may spend it on other classes and workshops, products or gift credits for someone else.

If you cancel after 10am on Wednesday, March 20, we will give you a TSH account credit as described above, minus $25 restocking and $50 registration fees, for a credit of $216.50

If you can’t make your chosen pickup time and need to arrange a different time, email us at If you do not contact us or pick up your detox product package by 4pm on Saturday, March 23 and have not made other arrangements with us, we will credit your TSH account, minus $25 restocking and $50 registration fees, for a credit of $216.50.
